A DEPARTMENT of Corrections officer who was arrested last weekend faces five counts of rape charges for an alleged sexual relationship with a minor whom he may have fathered a child with.

Eddy Taitague Perez, 40, is accused of having a sexual affair with the victim when she was only 14 years old in 2007. The victim, now 19, has a 2-year-old son of whom she claims Perez is the father.

According to Superior Court of Guam documents, the alleged relationship, as the victim recalled, was initiated sometime in 2007 or 2008 when she had been drinking beers with Perez one night.

“She didn’t remember the event but stated they had sex,” court documents stated.

Perez and the victim then began a sexual relationship and had sex about five more times before she got pregnant, court documents indicated.

As the victim relayed the encounters, Perez allegedly told her she could get an abortion if she wanted to. Investigators in the case reviewed the victim’s medical records which revealed a pregnancy was aborted in November 2007.

The victim became pregnant again by Perez and gave birth to his child in August 2010, court documents stated. The victim told investigators “she did not want to tell anyone because [Perez] would lose his job and he wouldn’t be able to support the family,” adding that Perez “loves his son and he is the only support she has.”

Perez was interviewed on June 6 and denied having sex with the victim, telling police that the victim “has gone through so many trauma, that if she claims he is the father of her son, then so be it if that’s what she says,” court documents stated.

Perez was charged in Superior Court on Saturday with five counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct. Court spokesperson Joshua Tenorio confirmed Perez is being held on $50,000 cash bail. Read more here via Marianas Variety
